This morning Opal Tomashevska, CUNA Mutual Group Multicultural Business Strategy Manager, announced a major challenge grant from the CUNA Mutual Group Foundation as a boost to SOLID: A Campaign for Brighter Futures.

“If you know even a little bit about the history of the Center,” she said, “you know that it was founded by tenants of Wexford Ridge in the late 70s and early 80s. One of those passion-filled tenants was my mom. I’m standing here today because they had a vision over 30 years ago. They organized without hashtags, strategized without titles or degrees. They knew more than anyone else that if we came together as a community and as neighbors, we could make it better for all of us — and they did.”

Together Opal and Beth Cutler, Director – Corporate Responsibility, CUNA Mutual Group, announced this $300,000 grant, the largest ever given to the Center. The first $100,000 will provide general support for all LCEC programs, and the remaining $200,000 will TRIPLE the first year of new and increased giving through SOLID.
