We’re so excited! December 1 marks this year’s #GivingTuesday and the start of the first-ever LCEC 30 Days of Mindfulness challenge.

With everything going on this year, young people’s wish for a safe, supportive place to participate in virtual classes and be with friends is top of mind. Granting that wish means expanding front-line staff to accommodate smaller class sizes and provide individualized attention. So we’ve set a #GT2020 goal of $2988, equal to one full week of extra program staffing to support kids’ learning.

But what about this mindfulness challenge? Mindfulness is the state of active awareness of ourselves, including our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Since March, LCEC staff have begun each staff meeting with a brief mindfulness practice. They say it’s made a difference in their ability to roll with extraordinary circumstances this year. Administrative assistant Cliff Wilford challenged himself to record 30 brief mindfulness practices for you — like the ones he leads for our staff — to ease your final days of 2020. Whether you’ve practiced mindfulness before or it’s your first time, these simple exercises are designed for you.

Make ANY contribution on our special #GivingTuesday donation page between now and 11:59pm on Dec 1, and you’ll receive one short, guided mindfulness exercise in your inbox each morning from Dec 2 through Dec 31.

Contribute to young people. Receive a gift from the Center. That sounds like the #GivingTuesday spirit, for sure. Thank you!
