Cohorts form annually and meet monthly

Those who live in the communities most impacted by systemic disparities are the experts on what our communities need. Many organizers and unsung community leaders do the work to meet these community needs despite being under-recognized and under resourced. The Neighborhood Organizing Institute (NOI), a joint project of the LCEC and Goodman Community Center, aims to connect, support, and lift up their work.
The NOI intentionally supports these organizers and community leaders as they build their own capacity to make their vision of a healthier community a reality. Since October 2015, cohorts of NOI participants have used monthly trainings to explore organizing tools relevant to the projects they were already working on and create connections across the city. They also meet with NOI staff to connect with resources, analyze power relations, access community networks, and move their grassroots project forward.
