Before you even walk into the LCEC, you’ll notice bursts of color outside the door. These seasonal displays are created by a team of garden volunteers, including Kathy Meehan, Lilli McGrath, and Mary Beth Plane. This month we learn about gardener Deb Johnson, pictured with her son Michael. In addition to providing extraordinary leadership in beautifying the Center for the last three years, Deb began volunteering as a Reading Buddy this summer.

“I learned about the LCEC when the building was under construction,” Deb offers. “I learned about all of the great things happening at the LCEC when our son worked in the kitchen. Everyone was so kind to him. He still likes to stop in to say hello to staff! It is wonderful to see so many good things going on at the Center, day after day…”
