Summer is a time for adventure and excitement, and we couldn’t have asked for a better one here at the LCEC. Campers enjoyed everything from swimming and gardening to creating comics and photographs — and with all the fun also came critical learning and social/emotional growth.

Elementary campers spent two days a week participating in self-selected clubs, exploring personal interests in the arts, athletics, cooking, and the outdoors.

Middle school campers got creative during Make It, Break It club, figuring out how things are put together, learning trouble-shooting skills, engineering their own creations, and then taking them all apart again.

At the high school level, Youth Action Summer Interns studied social problems that affect their daily lives and envisioned potential solutions. Their summer culminated in a trip to Washington, D.C., where they collaborated with other social justice-minded youth and explored our nation’s history.

BIG THANKS to everyone who made summer camp special, especially our SOLID donors who made sure K-8 campers experienced five full days of adventure (9am to 4pm) for eight full weeks this summer.

Enjoy these photos, and watch for the 2018 summer camp video, coming soon.
