Those who live in the communities most impacted by systemic disparities are the experts on what our communities need. Many organizers and unsung community leaders do the work to meet these community needs despite being under-recognized and under resourced. The Neighborhood Organizing Institute (NOI), a joint project of the LCEC and Goodman Community Center, aims to change that.
The NOI intentionally supports these organizers and community leaders as they build their own capacity to make their vision of a healthier community a reality. Since October 2015, the first cohort of NOI participants has explored organizing tools relevant to the projects they were already working on and met with advisors to connect with resources, analyze power relations, access community networks, and much more.
